Felabration 2013 : "Movement Of The People" Rally

Felabration 2013, which kicked off with preliminary event on 8th October 2013 with the secondary schools debate in Lagos, was won by Oriwu Secondary School. But the festival proper, will be a celebration of two iconic legends of music.

This annual festival is to celebrate the life and music of Afrobeat King and creator, Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Organisers are saying this 2013 edition will be celebrating Fela and Bob Marley.


On Monday 14th October, a symposium titled "MOVEMENT OF THE PEOPLE: FELA/BOB MARLEY PERSPECTIVE, will be held. Followed on Tuesday 15th with musical performances at the New Afrika Shrine, Ikeja ,Lagos.


Headliners for the show are Kymani Marley, son of Late Bob Marley and Femi Kuti. Also performing are KWAM1, 2Face Idibia and M.I.

The usual colourful street carnival will hold on Saturday 19th October and the high point of the 2013 celebration will be on Sunday 20th,with musical performance by Femi Kuti and Kymani Marley.

Speaking recently at the Kalakuta Museum, the organising committe head of security, Femi Kuti said “We have gone the extra mile to make sure fans are totally safe and secure. As a back-up to the Shrine Security Corps, a local security outfit has also been contracted to man the artistes zone, including the stage,”

The theme for this years Felabration is "Movement Of The People".
